A Study on Collimator Efficiency Improvement for Diagnostic X-ray Equipment

Abstract
The performance of the X-ray equipment¡¯s collimator system was improved by using ultrasound distance indicator and laser unit. The laser beams were coincided with radiation field. The distance between X-ray focus and film could be measured by using the ultrasound distance indicator attached collimator. According to the actual investigation in collimator, 30% of equipments were not satisfied recommendations on standard of illumination intensity, and 25% of them were not satisfied recommendations on limits of light/radiation field coincidence. Therefore by using laser beam coincided with light field the difference between light field and radiation filed could be decreased. By using the ultrasound distance indicator, the distance between focus and film could be measured easily, rapidly and correctly.
